Raven is a very special girl to us, as she is from one of our very first Shih Tzu litters! She is the daughter of Stormie, one of our original foundation girls, and a handsome mainland stud named Bubba. Visually, Raven is a gorgeous “ghost” seal—a beautifully black dog carrying sable, with a stunning reddish tint that becomes most visible when she is out in the bright sunlight. As a Dominant Black who carries both Sable and Piebald genetics, she is a foundational part of her lineage, providing consistent dark pigment while carrying the hidden traits that produce the vibrant variety seen in her offspring.

Raven is quite content spending most of her days keeping a watchful eye on any happenings at the front of our property from her window-high perch on the back of the sofa, with her nose smooshed right up against the screen so she doesn’t miss a thing! She is pretty mellow most of the time, but when the mood strikes, crazy antics ensue. Instead of typical “zoomies,” she’ll start prancing her little feet, hopping and pouncing at us, flipping toys around, and “talking” happily with adorable little huffing woofs. In the evenings, she can always be found cuddled up in the dog pile right beside me, hoping for some belly rubs—her absolute favorite thing in the world!
